Centaur provides a safe healing environment and individualized therapy.
A multi-faceted approach
It is not uncommon for a client to have several concurrent conditions. Sometimes one condition can interfere with progress in others. Horses can be used creatively to help block certain behaviors to allow the client to focus on developing life skills. For example, riding a moving horse can provide the sensory stimulation that a child may need in order to focus, and life skills can be taught during sessions.
Equine-assisted therapy can be used as a bridge from immobility to independence. The horse's motion and strength is a physical tool, providing beneficial physical exercise and freedom of movement. The horse is also a motivational and emotional aide, providing the unique psychology of a sensitive animal and the potential for bonding and partnership between client and animal. These qualities allow for a dynamic therapeutic experience developing empathy, strength, trust, and self-confidence in our clients.
